A generative fortune-telling application based on the I-Ching. By accessing or using our application, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, please refrain from using our application.

1. Acceptance and Use of the Application

By using 8-Bit Oracle, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. The application is provided for entertainment purposes only. Users are solely responsible for their interpretation and any actions taken based on the information provided.

2. User Conduct

When using 8-Bit Oracle, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate and up-to-date information when creating an account.
  • Not use the application for any unlawful, harmful, or inappropriate purposes.
  • Not attempt to modify, hack, or interfere with the applications functionality or security.

3. Intellectual Property and AI Emulations

All intellectual property rights related to 8-Bit Oracle are owned by Iterative Insights or its licensors. Users may not modify, reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works based on the application without prior written consent.

8-Bit Oracle offers a unique, tech noir experience featuring AI emulations of historical figures as counselors. These emulations, inspired by but distinct from their historical counterparts, provide divinations based on the I-Ching. We assert fair use for this content based on the following:

  • Transformative use: Our AI counselors fundamentally transform the personas and works of historical figures by reimagining them in a futuristic, digital divination context.
  • Speculative fiction: The app presents a -what if- scenario, exploring how historical figures might interact with modern technology and ancient divination practices.
  • Limited borrowing: Only essential characteristics of historical figures are used as a foundation for creating entirely new, speculative personas.
  • Market distinction: Our AI emulations do not compete with or replace original works or historical accounts of the figures referenced.
  • Clear framing: The app explicitly presents these counselors as AI emulations, maintaining a clear distinction from the historical figures they are inspired by.

The AI counselors in 8-Bit Oracle are speculative, artistic interpretations. They do not represent accurate historical portrayals, nor do they imply any endorsement from the estates or representatives of the historical figures referenced.

By using 8-Bit Oracle, you acknowledge the fictional, speculative nature of the AI counselors and agree not to misrepresent their outputs as authentic works or views of the historical figures they emulate.

4. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Iterative Insights shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or relating to your use of 8-Bit Oracle.

5. Modifications to Terms

We reserve the right to update or modify these Terms at any time. Any changes will be effective immediately upon posting the updated Terms within the 8-Bit Oracle application. Your continued use of the application after any modifications constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.

6. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Hong Kong. Any legal action or proceeding arising out of or relating to these Terms shall be brought exclusively in the courts of Hong Kong.
